Hosted by: Cheff Therapeutic Riding Center
Contact coordinator for times
Many riders in Cheff programs need help to maintain their balance while sitting on the horse as they are learning to ride. The sidewalker’s job is to give the rider as much help in maintaining his or her balance on the horse as is needed. They also relay the instructor’s directions using verbal or physical assistance. One or two people may be asked to act as sidewalkers for a rider, depending on how much difficulty the client is having with balance.
Visit our website at http://www.cheffcenter.org/volunteering/ from here, you can read about our volunteer needs, fill out paperwork, and find out when the next orientation is.
* Volunteers must be at least 14 years old and be able to pass a criminal background check. Sidewalkers must also be physically fit enough to walk for at least 45 minutes and do some occasional jogging. No horse experience necessary.
Parents and children are invited and encouraged to get involved.
