About Volunteer Time & Talent

Since 1887, the work of Charitable Union has been carried out, in large part, through the generous support of volunteers - both young and old.
The picture above shows the hands of one of our beloved volunteers who shared her talents of sewing and weaving for many years. Her loving commitment shines in many of our volunteers without whom we could not do the work we do in our community.
Each year, our dedicated volunteers provide more than 40,000 hours of service. In 2012, the U.S. Department of Labor placed an hourly value of $22.14 for volunteer work. As a result, Charitable Union's volunteers contributed services valued at...

That means, Charitable Union can put a majority of its funding into direct services to those in need.
