About Filling Backpacks for the Foodbank of the Southern Tier

The Backpack Program provides children who are at risk of hunger with a bag of nutritious, easy-to-prepare foods each Friday during the school year. This program fills the gap when children do not have access to school meal programs on weekends and breaks. The Backpack Program provides food to over 2,000 children each week and serves all school districts in Tompkins County.

Volunteers are needed to assemble packs of food at Boynton Middle School from approx. 4:30 - 6:30pm one Wednesday a month. We are looking to see if there are CFCU employees who would like to join together to help with this cause.

Application Process

Please make sure you have your supervisor's permission, since the time overlaps with our last hour of the work day.

Kids 8 and up are also welcome!

Note if you are interested here and I will send you additional info on how to officially register through the FoodBank's site (they require this for volunteers, unfortunately I cannot register everyone myself!)

Family-Friendly

Parents and children are invited and encouraged to get involved.
