The Floating Classroom is much more than "just a boat" ... but, we really do need a boat.

The mission of the Cayuga Lake Floating Classroom is one of education and lake access for all members of our community. We create lake experiences for 1500 residents of all ages each year and provide hands-on STEM education for 3000 students annually!

It's a little-known fact, but since our start, we have chartered the MV Haendel from Ithaca Boat Tours. Despite an excellent working relationship, the time has come to make a change.

Our Board of Directors has set a goal of raising $100,000 to purchase the MV Haendel - or a similar passenger vessel - in time for the 2018 lake season.

To ensure progress toward this ambitious goal, we will be running several shorter fundraising drives.

Having a dedicated boat will allow to us:

• offer expanded and more flexible service to local schools and organizations.
• partner more effectively with volunteer monitors and lake organizations.
• outfit the vessel with lake-friendly, environmentally sound systems.
• introduce new edu-tourism programs to support our mission.

Every dollar raised helps, so we are looking for the support of individuals, businesses, and organizations.
