About Foster Home

This is an entirely volunteer position. There is no financial compensation for this position, and the only reward is the warm fuzzy feeling of saving a dog's life.

Why foster? To save a dog’s life. To give a sweet, innocent dog a real chance at finding a loving, caring lifelong adoptive home. People abandon, abuse, or give up their dogs for a variety of reasons. Many of these dogs find temporary safe shelter at regional SPCAs or Humane Societies and then find new homes. But others fall through the cracks and remain on the streets, deteriorate in a stressful shelter situation and are unlikely to be adopted, or are the unfortunate casualties of some counties’ overstrained shelter systems and are scheduled for euthanasia simply due to overcrowding. In many cases, CDR is their last safety net--their last chance.
