About Newsmakers Forums

Volunteer for one of our Newsmakers forums that are held throughout the year. This event is a free, public and nonpartisan conversation series on the top issues facing Western North Carolina. Participants and attendees have included local, regional and statewide-lawmakers, journalists, advocates, agency directors, residents, and others. It is also live-streamed for those who can’t attend in person. Topics for 2017 have included the Welfare of WNC’s Children, WNC Food Deserts and Food Policy, Renewable Energy in WNC, Higher Education and the WNC Economy, Housing For Those With Mental Illness in North Carolina, Domestic Violence, and Women’s Health and Rural Hospitals. The seven forums totaled approximately 450 people in attendance and via live streaming.
