Letting Kids with Cancer be Kids again!
For the past 30 years, Camp Quality Kentuckiana has had one mission; to let kids with cancer be kids again.
We are a year round support system for children ages 5-16 who have been diagnosed with cancer. Our main event is a FREE week long summer camp for kids who are either recently diagnosed, going through treatment or in remission. in 2018 we had 96 campers, and that number is growing every year. Our families and campers never pay a penny for any of our events or the week of Camp. Our organization aims to make the transition of having a child with cancer seem like they are not in the fight alone.
What separates our camp from others is that we are volunteer run. Each camper is paired with a "companion." To volunteer as a companion you must be 18 years old and pass a background check and interview. Companions are then matched with a camper for a one to one ratio for the week of camp. Our camp has very specific medical needs and having a one to one camper companion pair ensures the best and safest week for our kids!
Outside the week of camp, we offer year round programs and events for our campers and their families. Events include a baseball night at Slugger Field, a Teen weekend Retreat, pool parties and more! Cancer affects everyone- not just the one diagnosed. We strive to make life just a little easier for our campers, their siblings and their families who are facing the unimaginable.
None of this is possible without the help from donors like you. Having an organization ran off of volunteers can be hard at times, but it also goes to show just how incredible these kids are. We are so lucky enough for the volunteers and the donors who help make our camp possible.
