The mission of The C. Thomas Clagett, Jr. Memorial Clinic and Regatta is to provide sailors with disabilities the opportunity to improve their skills and reach personal goals through world-class coaching and competition. The vision for The Clagett is to address the void in advanced training opportunities for competitive U.S. sailors with adaptive needs, and to assist them in achieving their individual goals on the national and international racing circuit at the highest level.
For the past 18 years, The Clagett has dedicated itself to providing sailors with disabilities access to highly specialized equipment and superb training to overcome often severe limitations to pursue a dream of sailing and competitive racing at the highest levels of competition. The regatta is held in the beautiful waters of Newport, R.I., but the impact of The Clagett’s work is known around the world. Courage, self-esteem, freedom of movement and quality of life are hallmarks of The Clagett experience, as cited by participants and documented on The Clagett’s website (www.clagettregatta.org).
