About Hands-On History
An educational series co-sponsored by Preservation Louisville, the Metro Louisville Historic Landmarks and Preservation Districts Commission and Kentucky Heritage Council/State Historic Preservation Office, with support from the Brown-Forman Corporation. Participants learn practical, hands-on techniques for working with original materials and finishes to maintain, restore and preserve historic building elements such as plaster, woodwork, gutters, roofing and masonry. Other topics focus on adapting "green" concepts for historic structures, historically appropriate landscaping, renovating windows and art glass, and designing a historically appropriate addition or renovation. Workshops take place from 1 to 4 p.m. the 2nd Saturday of each month, September through May.
