About BCEF Volunteer Opportunities

The Breast Cancer Emergency Fund (BCEF) aims to provide quick and compassionate emergency financial assistance to low-income people battling breast cancer in order to cover basic human needs, lessen financial burdens and improve quality of life. There are many ways to get involved:
1. Office Administration
--Ideal for folks who are detailed-oriented, tech savvy and prefer to work independently.
--Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database experience required.
--Sample duties include: data entry, event prep, mail merges and general administrative support.
--Duration of Project: Approx. 2-5 hours per week

2. Direct Mail Campaigns
--Ideal for people who like to work in groups and don’t mind repetitive tasks.
--Sample duties include: stuffing, sealing and stamping bulk mail projects.
--Duration of Project: Assembly usually lasts 3 days (10am-4pm with lunch), three or four times annually
* Bonus if you have neat handwriting and can hand-address personal letters *

3. Special Events
--Volunteer tasks vary from event to event.
--General tasks may include: registration and greeters, event set-up and auction monitors, cheering stations, hospitality, and loading & unloading.
--For some events, attending a volunteer orientation may be required.
--Duration: Approx. 5-10 hours per month.
* September, October and April are our busiest months!

4. Programs Outreach
--Represent BCEF at community events.
--Refer all inquiries for assistance to BCEF Programs staff.
--Outreach volunteers are required to complete a short training orientation.
--Duration: Approx. 3-5 hours per month
