About Garden Planting Party at the Domenech
Opportunity Details
Are you and your team based in Brooklyn? Consider this volunteer opportunity then:
With the understanding that many of our residents are formerly, chronically street-homeless, you might imagine that anyone who has experienced the loneliness of homelessness might find themselves feeling isolated, struggling to be active members of their building’s community. This is where you can help. Volunteers bring much joy to the lives of our residents, and your engagement alone, would go a long way to helping our residents re-integrate with the broader community, simply by being an encouraging presence. We have a number of events and activities throughout the year that require the help of volunteers varying from putting on social gatherings, to beautification projects around our premises, to more skill-oriented projects.
On Thursday, April 25th, we will need 10 volunteers to help us with a gardening project for our residents at the Domenech, a senior living residence in Brownsville, Brooklyn. Volunteers will help with cleaning, prepping soil and removing old roots as they interact with tenants. You would then help with laying compost, turning compost over and hosing down the dirt and then planting seeds. Snacks and refreshments will be served.
