Black River United Way

About Us

BRUW, formerly known as Georgetown County United Way, was sanctioned as a United Way World Wide affiliate and received its non-profit status on April 28, 1970 under the board leadership of Mr. Nathan Kaminski. In 2014, BRUW abandoned its traditional platform of “community chest” to a “collective impact model”. With the collective impact model, we are looking at root causes and developing sustainable solutions in overall community health. Over the course of 50 years, $19,000,000 was raised through workplace campaigns, private donors and grants to support non-profit agencies & community initiatives in Georgetown and Williamsburg Counties.
