About Transporter (Feline and Canine)

Have you always wanted to be a part of an organization, but your schedule does not allow full time active commitment to the cause? Do you love animals and are just as heartbroken as we are when dogs and cats are euthanized, when they are abused or orphaned or when they are simply born to the streets? If so, and if you own your own vehicle, we could really use your help. We need responsible, caring individuals to volunteer as transporters – picking a cat or dog (or the occasional rabbit) up from a shelter, driving the pet to or from a vet’s office, taking that dog or cat to their foster parent or to their forever home or to pick up and deliver supplies.

Being a transporter is not full time, yet it is a vital position in Big Hands Little Paws. Without these volunteers, we would be unable to rescue, foster or vet the animals and fewer pets would be saved and adopted. It is a valuable role and very satisfying – you get to interact directly with the cat or dog and get to observe, first-hand, the journey of this pet from the shelter or street to their new life.
