BID UGANDA
Bugembe Initiative for Development (BID) is an action oriented community based organization dedicated to empowering women, youth and vulnerable persons through a holistic, socio-economic approach. After realizing that the diseases, literacy, unemployment, poverty, ignorance, wars and natural disasters in Uganda have resulted into situations of volubility and moral degeneration, nothing that the most affected persons are the children, women, youths, and the elderly, and realizing that the current community initiative falls short in copying with the ever increasing number of poor women, needy youths and vulnerable children. Knowing that lack of coordination, information and other essential support effectively empower these affected persons with skills for self-reliant life. Convinced that we would better address various short comings faced by the poor and most vulnerable persons in the community through a coordinated effort as established. BID UGANDA was also born out of the need to reach out the uncared, forgotten, HIV/AIDS orphans, abandoned, street children, homeless, and parentless children in the communities and our society who are hurting in life, through sharing God’s practical love and care. And sharing with them the greatest and changing gift of salvation full of love, compassion and healing. the increasing number of orphans in Uganda is due to HIV/AIDS, insurgency and needy abused and street children are due to poverty in families and loss of parents which is increasing every time and the extended families cannot sustain their pockets and care for them. Most of these vulnerable children especially the orphans around us have lost hope for their future without food, shelter, education lack of parental love, guidance and training. Above all their rights have been abused and denied the right to shelter good food, clothing, education and good health to have a better future.

As BID UGANDA, members we bring to your notices, that as to the years
running down, despite of the fact that we have been experiencing some
challenges, these are some of the achievements within the organization.
-We have been in position to buy land for constructing of the school and
the church.
-We got a professional counselor who helps us to mentor our
children, mothers in parenting skills and the care takers i.e.
psychologically, spiritually and socially. This has helped us in
behavior change.
-We have also maintained our spiritual, economic and social values in
our projects that is, soap making, agriculture, bricklaying, making
necklaces, bags and fellowship together.
-HIV positive mothers and children have also improved on supportive counseling.
-Out of the one hundred seventy- three widows/helpless mothers we are supporting we
were able to buy thirty sawing machines whereby we train them how to
make clothing's which help them earn a living.
-We started with twelve members, now we have one hundred twenty two
active members including the elderly and the youths in different
projects.
-We have improved on our saving culture through our saving and credit scheme.
-Out of the two hundred twenty one children, we managed to find
sponsors for seventy one children and we do glorify God for the
support.
-From the income generating projects we have managed to support the
elderly by feeding, paying rent, attending to medical bills and buying
some clothing's.
-We have trained forty youths in brick laying, soap making, batiks
making and building skills.
Although we have achieved the above these are some of
the current challenges,
-Finding market for our products as the competition is so high in
Uganda e.g. necklaces, batiks, bags and the cards.
-Increasing number of vulnerable and needy children.
-Clearing medical bills
-Paying rent and feeding vulnerable families.
-Finding sponsors for the increasing number of children who seek help from BID.
-Funds for the school and church structures
-Digging a water source at the school site.
-More sawing machines for the widows/helpless mothers
-Brick laying machine
-Finding funds for the construction of a home for the homeless children.
