About Philadelphia Botanical Club Field Trip

The first Philadelphia Botanical Club field trip was to Bartram’s Garden on the 14th of February 1892. To commemorate that, the PBC will be revisiting the Garden, discussing its history, and looking for plants that were seen on that first trip, such as Eranthis hyemalis (winter aconite), Ptelea trifoliata, and Aralia spinosa. This trip will be lead by PBC board member David Hewitt and Bartram’s Garden Curator Joel Fry.

All PBC trips are held rain or shine. Be prepared for wet walking, bright sun, insects, and rain. Trips usually last into the afternoon, so bring a lunch and something to drink. For questions or suggestions for field trips, contact David Lauer, PBC field trip coordinator, at [email protected] or 215-764-6039 .
