Every spring and summer we rally members of our communities to participate in our Walking Buddies program. We are looking for volunteers interested in visiting a residence and taking elders for walks in the neighborhood. We know how crucial it is to keep folks outside and moving as often as we can, and we simply don't have the manpower to accompany our residents each and every time they'd like to go for a walk. That's where volunteers come in. You can sign up to walk once a week, once a month, or just once- it's all up to you and your schedule! A walk generally lasts under a half hour. Do you work or live near one of our residences in Burlington, Bristol, or Montpelier? The next time you go for a walk, stop in and see if one of your community elders would like to join you. It's as simple as that! Have questions? Don't hesitate to get in touch. Our Burlington address is listed here, but this is an opportunity at any of our three facilities.
Our standard application process includes an in-person interview, background check, and completion of application including references. Note- a prior criminal history does not necessarily mean you will not be able to volunteer. If you have a question about your potential eligibility, please feel free to get in touch!
Parents and children are invited and encouraged to get involved.
No one has signed up yet, but you could be the first!
