About Community Organising

We seek volunteers who are interested to gain experience in community organizing and a deeper understanding of the non-profit sector. Volunteers will be involved significantly in community organizing efforts targeting local youth and residents. Volunteers will get a chance to closely work with the local authorities, community leaders and youth to plan and execute various projects – from sports, drug awareness, to family planning. The variety of projects will allow our volunteers to gain insight into the lives and needs of Maldivians.

Apart from being involved with community organizing efforts, volunteers can be a part of other programmes such as marine conservation and eco waste management in their spare time. Your assistance would be valuable to the other volunteers. During weekends, you can look forward to picnics on un-inhabited Islands, snorkelling and fishing trips.
As with all our programmes we would confirm your participation as a community organizer after carefully reviewing your CV. If you would like to request for a change in your placement to another programme you can request 20 days in advance with a letter supporting your interest in that programme.
Volunteers can expect a friendly environment and great team support from Atoll Volunteers for all their activities.
Volunteers who have committed three months of their time will be in the running to win the Best International Volunteer Award. This will be awarded yearly by Atoll Volunteers on International Volunteer Day (December 5).
