About Volunteer with Arlington Neighborhood Villages

Arlington Neighborhood Villages understands that other organizations and obligations are vying for your time and energy. We will do our best to provide an opportunity for service that fosters an enriching and meaningful volunteer experience. As you contribute to the well being of ANV members, you can also benefit from volunteering as you:
--Contribute directly to your own neighborhood
--Effect positive change in the lives of aging neighbors
--Meet new people and widen your circle of friends and acquaintances
--Increase your knowledge of your community and its resources
--Strengthen and develop new connections to your community
--Feel a sense of personal accomplishment
--Learn new skills and develop new interests
--Help ensure the success of Arlington Neighborhood Villages, whose services you may benefit from later in your life.

What better way to give back to the community than by helping neighbors remain in their homes as they age? Residents of all ages can become direct service volunteers, doing tasks suited to their own preferences, schedules, and skills—from providing transportation, to assisting with light home repairs, to checking in with a daily phone call. As a volunteer, you’ll receive the training you need to provide services for Arlington Neighborhood Villages members.

**ANV asks that you have at least 20 hours a month to devote as a direct service volunteer or in the ANV office. Although you may not be asked to serve this much in any given month, ANV’s commitment to vet, train, and oversee volunteers obliges us to ask for this level of commitment from our volunteers.

Application Process

If you are interested in becoming a direct service volunteer, helping out in the ANV office, or working on a special project such as planning events or conducting a member program, please submit the Volunteer Application Form (http://arlnvil.org/volunteer/volunteer-form/). You may also mail in a printed volunteer application form (http://arlnvil.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/Volunteer-Application.pdf), contact us at [email protected], or call 703-509-8057.

Family-Friendly

Parents and children are invited and encouraged to get involved.
