About Plant a Row

Plant a Row for the Hungry is a nationwide movement of gardeners and farmers who plant an extra row of vegetables in their gardens and fields and donate the harvest to a local food bank like the Arlington Food Assistance Center.

Since it began in 1995, the Plant a Row for the Hungry project has inspired thousands of home gardeners, community gardeners and farmers to grow produce for their less fortunate neighbors. By 2008, an estimated 12 million pounds of produce were donated by Plant a Row gardeners to local food banks.
