About The Piggy Bank Program

Program Description
The Piggy Bank Program is an on-campus money depositing program for students at participating schools. Once a week, Andson sets up a “bank” where students set savings goals and make deposits. As the students work with Andson staff and volunteers, they are saving real money. The students’ deposits are held by Silver State Credit Union in master accounts. At the end of 5th grade, students have the option of transferring their Piggy Bank savings to a regular account or can withdraw their total savings in the form of a check. Students and their families always have access to their savings information through an online application portal.
Volunteer Description:
Volunteers have the opportunity to serve as Piggy Bank Tellers, recording and collecting the deposits made by students. Piggy Bank Volunteers also help collect students from classrooms and make sure their deposit materials are complete before transactions are made. Volunteers are asked to arrive 30 minutes before banking operations begin for onsite training. Groups or individuals (1-7 volunteers) are utilized to operate the Piggy Banks.
