About MOH Environment Division Recycling Awareness Community Communication Campaign

American University of Antigua’s (AUA) College of Medicine is partnering with the Environment Division in the Ministry of Health and the Environment to promote recycling awareness in primary and secondary schools on Antigua & Barbuda through the Division’s Community Communication Campaign. This initiative is to help Antiguan students gain a better understanding of the importance of recycling and/or develop ways of convincing their peers, parents and members of the community to recycle, students of AUA are excited to host this event at our College of Medicine campus near Jabberwock Beach for a half day event on Saturday 21st February, 2015 from 9am to 2pm. This invitation is open to a maximum of 15 grade 5/6 students and no more than 3 teachers.
The day's program will commence with a short presentation on the importance of recycling followed by group activity guided by the medical students, to develop a community recycling communication/awareness outreach product. This product may be in the form of a video, poster, or an object made from recycled material, among other possibilities. Participating schools will take the responsibility of publicizing this output on radio, television, newspaper or social media. The day will end with group presentations to participants from other schools, medical students and faculty. A light lunch will be served.
