About Us

American Tortoise Rescue (ATR) is a 501 (C) 3 nonprofit (TAX I.D. # 93-1219374) founded in 1990 to provide for the protection of all species of tortoise and turtle. Celebrating our 26th anniversary, we are proud to say that ATR has saved and rehomed nearly 4,000 turtles and tortoises domestically and internationally. It’s important to note that we are an all volunteer operation with all monies donated going directly to the animals that we care for and rescue.
