About Community Engagement Volunteer

A Community Engagement Volunteer attends events, fairs, and expos, to better sniff out community involvement opportunities on behalf of the American Red Cross, all while engaging the public via the sharing of preparedness information. Additionally, the dissemination of preparedness knowledge and seizing of outreach opportunities connects the Red Cross to prospective volunteers.

The American Red Cross of Southwest Michigan is seeking approximately 10 Community Engagement Volunteers per county in the chapter area, for a total of 80.

Line of service: Volunteer Services

Purpose: Represent the Red Cross at community events informing the public about the Red Cross, their work in the community, and how to get involved.

Primary responsibilities:
*Represent the Red Cross at expos, fairs, and other events
*Engage and share preparedness information with the public
*Recruit new volunteers
*Become knowledgeable about the Red Cross, local programs, services, and key contacts

Time Commitment/Availability: Flexible; depends on need.

Apply to volunteer with the Red Cross at the following link: http://rdcrss.org/1jwIkp1 Then, enter your zip code, and when the next page appears, click “Michigan Region.” From there, choose “Prospective Adult Volunteer” (Or youth, if appropriate). Then, you can enter your personal information to apply to volunteer. You have the option of registering a facebook page at that point. Concurrently, you will need to consent to a background check. When all that's completed, we'll call you for an intake interview, and place you in the need of ours that fits your interests and skills best!

Training: Training will be provided to interested volunteers.
