About Disaster Action Teams Needed by the Red Cross

Volunteer Help Wanted

Did you know that in January the Disaster Action Team (DAT) responded to a record number of house fires? We assisted 103 families, just in January. Almost every time you turn on the news you hear that the Red Cross is assisting someone in our community. A small group of very dedicated, compassionate staff and volunteers have made this aid available when people need it most.
BUT, we can’t keep up. WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Please check your schedule and consider how you can serve.

1. Daytime DAT. On call to respond to assist families who have experienced a house fire or other disaster. Daytime shifts are Monday through Friday 8:30 – 5:00. We prefer that you schedule a set day(s) each week but any time you can give would be appreciated.

2. Client Support Volunteers. Meet with clients in the office and provide follow-up assistance and referrals, enter cases into the computer and make calls to ensure that clients’ needs have been met. Minimum of one day a week preferred.

3. Overnight or Weekend DAT Shifts. Fires happen at all hours of the day and night, daily 5:00pm to 8:30am and weekend shifts are the core of our DAT response. Shifts can be scheduled around your availability. A minimum of two shifts a month requested.

Training will be provided. For more information , please call or email Kevin Kuhns at [email protected] or 901-672-6351.

Please share this opportunity with friends, family and others that might be interested in volunteering
