About Southeast MS - Disaster Action Team: Trainee-Laurel

Provide timely response to disasters and assist those affected
Respond to disaster scenes as assigned by Team Leader within two hours
Meet the needs of those affected by disasters such as the need for shelter and food by providing Red Cross services.
Complete forms related to service
Provide referrals to other agencies
Communicate to Team Leader about availability and readiness on a regular basis
Time Commitment:
Choose your availability on an availaility and rotation schedule

Qualifications:
Demonstrated commitment to the mission of the American Red Cross.
Be able to follow chapter guidance and current Red Cross disaster guidance
Relationships
Works with the Disaster Services Workforce in the chapter/region including other Disaster Responders and the Disaster Action Team Leader.

Length of Appointment
Once trained may remain active as long as required training is updated. DAT membership will be evaluated and renewed yearly based on performance.

Purpose:
Assist Red Cross in delivering mission by alleviating human suffering caused by disasters.

Application Process

To become a volunteer with the American Red Cross you would need to complete an application. This application is found at http://www.redcross.org/mississippi/volunteer. This takes you directly to the Volunteer Application page found on the Red Cross website. Completion of the application consists of registering for orientation, reading and agreeing to the code of conducts and policies of the Red Cross, and completion a background check.
