*Volunteer Opportunity for the American Red Cross*

Provide excellent customer service for phone and walk-in inquiries.

Responsibilities:

1. Takes messages to ensure prompt transmission to the appropriate party.

2. Greets visitors and staff in a friendly manner and directs them to the appropriate individual.

3. Provides excellent customer service to visitors and callers.

4. Ensures that a visitor’s log is maintained.

5. Issues visitor’s badges.

6. Provides general information about the organization to outside callers (e.g., applicants and vendors).

7. Provides support to other departments as directed (e.g. electronic faxing, and performing other

clerical tasks).

8. Trains relief receptionists.

9. Carries out any additional assignments required to fulfill the Mission of the American Red Cross.

Time Commitment: Volunteers can sign-up for half or full day shfits. We hope volunteers would be able to work a few shifts a month.

Qualifications:

1. Proficient with office software, such as Word, Excel and Outlook.

2. Comfortable answering, evaluating and transferring a moderate to high number of incoming phone

calls.

3. Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.

4. Clear, professional speaking voice is a must.

5. Strong listening skills and prompt follow up actions.

6. Friendly demeanor both in person and over the phone.

7. Works well with diverse community and can keep calm under pressure.

8. Reliable

9. Uses time efficiently.

10. Demonstrates accuracy, thoroughness.

11. Maintains integrity and confidentiality.

12. Must pass a background check,

Length of Apptmt: Six month committment, renewable.
