Canine Flu Vaccines

Help vaccinate all shelter pets against Canine Influenza!

A fundraising campaign for Humane Society of North Central Florida

We received word today (6/23) that a shelter in Orlando has two confirmed cases of Canine Influenza. We have been monitoring this situation closely over the past several weeks as Canine Influenza cases have popped up among show dogs and other owned pets. Unfortunately, the time has come for the Alachua County Humane Society, Gainesville Pet Rescue and Helping Hands Pet Rescue to turn vigilance into action. We need you help.

We must raise $5,000 in order to provide vaccines and booster shots to all dogs currently in our programs and to any who we may take in over the coming weeks.

Your generous support, in any amount, will help us save lives and continue to find loving homes for the pets in our care.

UF Maddie's Shelter Medicine Program released this article earlier this month about when and how shelters and rescues should vaccinate the animals in their care. The article states that "In the community, vaccination is the most important tool for reducing or preventing influenza virus circulation. The more dogs vaccinated, the greater the immune barrier, and the less opportunity for virus transmission between dogs."
