About ACS Produce Gleaning
Do you want to help feed the poor?
As you may not know, not everything a farmer grows is sold. Customers are very choosy about what they buy, and price points are based on size ranges, so there can be several reasons why the produce isn't taken to market: the goods can be too big or too small, misshapen, or the farmer could've simply met their quota for the season.
Whatever the reason, that leftover crop goes to waste if it's not used. That's where ACS comes in. Each farming season, they take volunteers to glean remaining crops from local farms to give to people in need.
This opportunity happens at various times between April and Ocober, and will take place at various farms located no farther than 150 miles from West Point.
Volunteers must be at least 17 years old and are available to travel during predawn hours.
