About ACS Disaster Response VOAD

Do you want to help people in times of disaster?

Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) is a system in place to allow quick mobilization of support after a disaster. The make up of each VOAD is different, but usually includes volunteer centers, health organizations, donation centers, first responders, weather advisory, and more. The most important component, however, is volunteers.

In the event of a disaster, volunteers will need to accept, sort, and distribute goods to victims of disasters. The work may last for 3 months following a disaster. Volunteers will work in daily shifts, for up to 8 hours (or whatever amount of time they are available).

As disasters can happen anywhere, volunteer opportunities may happen anywhere in Mississippi, western and southern Alabama, western and central Tennessee, or eastern Louisiana.

Volunteers must be at least 17 years old and be available to travel within the state or to a bordering state.

If you would like to get involved, click Sign Up or contact Pearlie Westbrooks or Sharon Applewhite at 601-434-0983 or [email protected].
