Located near the East End of Louisville, Adopt Me! Bluegrass Pet Rescue is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that facilitates the rescue, rehabilitation and adoption of animals from area kill shelters.

Adopt Me! Bluegrass Pet Rescue is a non-profit organization guided by the principals of compassion, integrity and dedication! We seek to incorporate and educate the community to make a positive impact on pet overpopulation; and through our work, we rescue, nurture, rehabilitate and place companion animals into loving, committed homes!
ABOUT US
Adopt Me! Bluegrass Pet Rescue chooses to do things a little differently than other rescues! Our main focus is the animal but we also realize that behind each successful placement in a Forever Family there is also a "people" side to the story! All lives are affected when a match is made and Adopt Me! Bluegrass Pet Rescue works hard to find the "perfect fit" for "both sides!" Last year alone, we placed 300 homeless pets in their loving Forever Families!
Our successful matches have surpassed our expectations and we have placed animals in the far reaching areas of California, Canada, Florida and Connecticut. Here is a quick overview of where some of the Adopt Me! BPR companion animals have been placed:- Hollywood Movie - Molly, our trained acting pup shot scenes in the movie "Killing of a Sacred Deer" starring Nicole Kidman and Colin Farrell! This movie debuts in the US on November 3, 2017! Molly has since been adopted and is living in Studio City, California!
- Scent Detection Dog for invasive species in Everglades National Park - Our Beagle puppy, Violet, was adopted and will be in training to replace "Python Pete" who recently passed away.
- Children with diagnosed "challenges" - Our dogs Ace and Charlie (just to name a couple) were adopted into these homes.
- Senior Citizens - Numerous Adopt Me! BPR dogs have found homes with Seniors giving them needed companionship!
- First Therapy Dog in KY Alternative High School - Maisy works with high school staff member Anita at the Buckner Alternative High School in Oldham County!
- Support Roll in College - Mallory lives in a dorm with her college student in an emotional support role!
- Paws Behind Bars Trained Service Dogs placed with Veterans - Working with Dogs Helping Heroes who finds the Veterans and adds additional support for the pairs, Adopt Me! BPR has given the initial Service Dog Training of the canines through the Paws Behind Bars prison program!
- Military Base Service Dog - Service Dog, Smudge, is used for emotional support after the soldiers Live-Stream Combat Training Sessions on an Indiana Military Base.
- FAMILY COMPANION PETS - Hundreds and hundreds of companion animals placed to make happy Forever Families!!!
Adopt Me! Bluegrass Pet Rescue is host to a fascinating inmate training program called PAWS BEHIND BARS! Located in the Luther Luckett Correctional Complex in Oldham County, this program has been maintained by a staff member from Adopt Me! BPR since 2009! This program trains unmannerly canines and molds them into highly desirable family companion pets. While this program absolutely gives the canines a second chance at life, the Paws Behind Bars program also enhances the lives of the inmate handlers by giving purpose, responsibility, accountability and education for possible reentry into society.
