About Help renovate the ART House

The house was built in 1895 by Albert H. Marshall, owner of the prosperous A.H. Marshall Co, a hardware supply company located in downtown Plattsburgh. The private residence went through several owners over the years and for a point in time functioned as the Marshall House B&B. The house was in foreclosure and had been abandoned for seven years prior to January 2016.

When ART took possession there was no heat, electricity or plumbing. The house contained asbestos and had several large leaks caused by holes in the roof. The exterior of the house was at best in shambles. With limited funds ART has been able to patch the roof, install heat, electricity and plumbing to the first floor and abate the asbestos in the basement. However the job is far from complete. If you are interested in helping us restore this once stately building, we need laborers of all skill levels as well as financial support.

Your support either financially or physically can help ART put to an end the days of renting three warehouse spaces in addition to using multiple basements and garages of ART members to store props, costumes and set pieces.

The ART House, when complete, will function as the group's business office, warehouse, classroom, workshop and small rehearsal space. It will be the only structure of its kind in the North Country It will help ART continue its mission statement "To provide a forum for area performing artists to expand their talents and an opportunity for new performing artists to test their talents while providing the community with a quality theatrical experience."
