About Resident Care Specialist

General responsibilities may include:
Maintain resident cages (cleaning fleece, wiping cage bars)
Weigh residents on a regular schedule - update animal database
Provide different enrichment items on a rotating schedule
Keep the visual resident charts accurate and sharp in appearance
Know each resident’s story and be prepared to share with the public that may ask.
Maintain water bottles (cleanliness and water levels)

Requirements for all volunteers at Acorn Acres:
Must be at least 25 years of age and possess at least a high school diploma or equivalent.
Must have reliable transportation and be lawfully licensed to operate.
Must commit to schedule of at least 4 hours, same day, same shift, weekly for a minimum of 6 months.
Must be willing to work in all conditions, including outdoors. Must be able to stand for your entire shift.
Must be prompt and dress appropriately for working conditions.
Must be able to work independently.
Must sign a volunteer agreement, waiver of liability, and complete a (free) state background check.
