About Intake Assistant

General responsibilities may include:
Answer phone
Provide general information about AAWR
Advise finder on whether they have a wildlife emergency
Provide options/methods of containing animal
Provide guidance over phone of how to prepare animal for transport
Greet incoming finders and obtain intake information
Obtain animal from finder and place in quarantine room
Accept and track in kind and monetary donations in spreadsheet
Write thank you cards to donors and finders
Help prepare education room for programs/events
Maintain brochures in lobby
Fold tissues
Separate newspapers

Requirements for all volunteers at Acorn Acres:
Must be at least 25 years of age and possess at least a high school diploma or equivalent.
Must have reliable transportation and be lawfully licensed to operate.
Must commit to schedule of at least 4 hours, same day, same shift, weekly for a minimum of 6 months.
Must be willing to work in all conditions, including outdoors. Must be able to stand for your entire shift.
Must be prompt and dress appropriately for working conditions.
Must be able to work independently.
Must sign a volunteer agreement, waiver of liability, and complete a (free) state background check.
