A fundraising campaign for ACE Liberia

Happy New Year! Please save this date and time, Thursday, March 5th, 6-10pm to join me in support of basic education for students in Liberia. Our non-profit organization, Africa Community Exchange (ACE) is partnering with DJ Williams Projekt and The Answer Brewpub for an evening of entertainment and food in support of Ann Sandell Independent School, a community based school in Liberia for disadvantaged children.

The school was started to provide free private school education to children, grades K-9, whose families were devastated by fourteen years of civil war and now an Ebola crisis in Liberia. Many children go without education because of the insufficient number of government public schools or the lack of necessary funds to pay the high fees required by private institutions. Because of the tremendous need, the school’s enrollment has grown from 500 students to nearly 1000 in the past seven years.

In 2007, I with a group of concerned former Liberian residents now living in the United States resolved to do whatever we could to help from the United States. Thus Africa Community Exchange (ACE) was formed, incorporated and qualified with the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3), making gifts to ACE tax deductible. The vision of ACE is to nurture, inspire and support the development of strong citizens. Its mission is to provide a model of education for youth that helps to meet their basic needs and normalize their lives allowing them to overcome the impact of disaster and conflict. In alignment with this mission, ACE adopted the Ann Sandell Independent School.
