Swimming & Diving, it’s More Than A Game

Canisius Swimming & Diving Team, despite many restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, persevered and succeeded on the field, in the classroom, and in the community.

Over the past year, our team had a successful season swimming faster than ever.  Between both our men’s and women’s teams we had 27 student-athletes receive a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher and be named to the MAAC’s Swimming and Diving All-Academic Team. In addition, our student-athletes were one of nineteen Canisius athletic teams to achieve an average GPA over 3.0. Our women’s team held an average of 3.69 and the men’s team held a 3.27.  We are proud of their continued dedication to not only their sport but also to their academic studies as well. Despite busy schedules, our athletes got involved in a community outside of Canisius to help them become well-rounded leaders both on and off the field. 

This past year our Griffs donated their time during Virtual Service Week by helping clean up and garden at People’s Park here in Buffalo. One of the pillars of Canisius, the Jesuit community, as well as our swimming & diving program, is for our athletes to be men and women for and with others.  Through all their hard work and dedication they are becoming strong Griffin Leaders and setting an example for teammates and classmates alike.  

Your donation to Canisius Swimming & Diving More Than A Game Campaign will help provide our student-athletes with new apparel and equipment that is essential in the performance of the team.  Your donation will also reduce future training trip costs for student-athletes and enhance the student-athlete experience. 

A huge part of our success as a team is made possible by the generosity of our donors over the past year.  Your continued support allows our program to harvest an environment that encourages growth for our Griffs in the classroom, on the field, and within our community.
