2018 Idaho Youth Camp

We ensure kids from diverse backgrounds, including several "at-risk" youth, have an affordable youth camp experience without losing out on the amenities.

A fundraising campaign for Idaho Youth Camp

This campaign is near and dear to my heart. As a very poor kid living in the Nampa, ID in 1992, my family had a difficult time allowing me to do anything that cost money. I had been written off by friends, family members, teachers and other community leaders at an early age because of where I lived, what I looked like and my family history. I still hear the motivating words of an uncle who said, you will be like the rest of our family, which at that time was not very good. That was a driving force to become more and change that perspective, I just needed a propelling platform. At that time, my family really didn't see the importance of financing opportunities like camp. A friend of mine however, saw the importance. He helped me raise funds for camp, but near the deadline it wasn't enough to pay the entire camp fee. A wonderful family decided to sponsor the rest of my way so I would have the opportunity to experience a youth camp.

Those are now some of my best memories i have. I remember building a radio out of scrap materials. I remember learning how to fly fish. I remember building strong relationships and connecting with mentors that paved the way to my success. They saw something in me that I didn't even see in myself at that time. Now I have the opportunity to pay it forward. My heart has gotten so big that I started to realize I can't pay for all these kids on my own. So I began partnering with businesses, churches, community organizations and individuals who saw the benefits of youth camp. My camp experiences allowed me to see my parents grow as adults and leaders of the community. My parents are now my biggest cheerleaders and supporters for camp. My families reputation has gone from a bunch of misfits to reliable servants to the community.

I now extend my hand to those who are thinking about donating. I need your help. I would love to continue this journey, but like all things, it costs. I would greatly appreciate your contribution. I assure you that every cent will echo your support and care to those who join us at Idaho Youth Camp.
