The WSIA-FM Scholarship Fund

Since 1981, WSIA 88.9 FM has been more than a radio station. It has been a classroom, a creative home, and a launching pad for generations of College of Staten Island students.

From its earliest days as a group of students bringing music to campus to its role today as Staten Island’s only FM radio station, WSIA has given students the opportunity to learn by doing. Members host live shows, produce interviews, manage station operations, cover community events, support local artists, and build leadership skills that carry far beyond the studio.

For many students, WSIA is where confidence begins. It is where students learn how to speak with purpose, solve problems under pressure, collaborate with a team, and take ownership of something larger than themselves. These experiences prepare students for careers in media, communications, business, education, public service, and countless other fields.

The impact of WSIA can be seen through the success of its students and alumni. WSIA members have gained hands-on professional experience through opportunities like sports broadcasting with the Staten Island FerryHawks, long-form interviews with campus leaders, live programming, event planning, and station leadership. Alumni have gone on to build careers in radio, television, entertainment, education, public service, and beyond.

The WSIA-FM Scholarship Fund helps recognize and support the students who give their time, creativity, and leadership to the station while pursuing their degrees at CSI. Your gift helps ease the financial burden on student members and honors the legacy of a station that has helped generations of students find their voice.
