Women Build Weekend 2022

You can always tell who the strong women are. They're the ones you see building each other up.

A fundraising event for Habitat for Humanity of Tompkins and Cortland Counties

Event Information

12:00pm Friday, May 13, 2022 to 12:00pm Sunday, May 15, 2022

Women Build Weekend is all about empowerment.  It's a rare opportunity to put a tool in your hands, try something new, and do that in a supportive, energetic environment, alongside talented and fabulous local women.

We want to include you in this community-focused opportunity for women of all skill levels to participate in hands-on construction training, and practice those techniques while building for Habitat for Humanity.  You'll learn something new and leave with skills and confidence.  Equally important, you'll be doing good for our community.  The time and energy that you share with us help raise funds and build more affordable Habitat homes.

With a rock-solid crew of more than a dozen local women crew leaders, there’s no shortage of skill or motivation to support you.  Women Build’s leaders come with decades of construction expertise, a passion for engaging other women in the trades, and a willingness to share their time and skills.  Habitat’s Women Builders quietly uplift and support one another and also have a genuine desire to share their skills and introduce more women to construction, carpentry, and Habitat.  Women Build Weekend is where they unleash that desire and shine.

Are you a repeat Women Builder?  We can't wait to have you back.  With a canceled event in 2020 and a modified event in 2021, we're beyond excited to be back in full force this May!  Dust off that tool belt and dig up those work boots, we're so ready for you.

Register today for a unique and empowering volunteer experience this May.  Whether it's just a few hours or for the whole weekend, we guarantee that Women Build Weekend will leave you feeling confident in your abilities, well-trained in basic carpentry and tool use, and satisfied from helping local families who are working to achieve strength, stability, and self-reliance by purchasing a volunteer-built Habitat home.

Lastly, where does this magic take place?  We're super grateful to Cathy Allen and Hancock Plaza Properties for the use of their convenient location of the DMV parking lot on Third Street in Ithaca for our event.
