A place to eat,
a place to sleep,
a place to dream,
a placed called home.
These basic needs are so
fundamental for human survival however, hundreds of Medgar Evers College
students do not have them.
Did you know that of the
7,000 students enrolled at Medgar Evers College, 58% are recipients of Pell
grants? Pell is a need-based grant awarded to low-income students attending
college. Despite Pell, TAP and other need-based financial assistance, Medgar
Evers College estimates that 300 of its students are homeless.
Making education a primary
focus is a major challenge for students who are dealing with issues surrounding
poverty. Despite the current political and social climate, Medgar Evers
College students persist. However, we need your help.
The Medgar Evers College Educational Foundation strives to raise
at least $50,000 this year to stock the pantry and to provide food vouchers
throughout the year.
Here’s what your
tax-deductible donation can provide:
o
$25.00 will help a student buy breakfast for a week.
o
$100.00 will help a student to buy groceries for a week.
o
$250.00 will provide a month of food vouchers to a student.
o
$500.00 will stock the pantry with non-perishable food items.
Every gift, no matter
the size, makes a difference. Please consider encouraging your friends,
family and colleagues to join us to work towards ending hunger on the MEC
campus this year.
