WHF's Veteran Resource Facility

Be a hero for our local service members

A fundraising campaign for The Wounded Heroes Fund

Currently, the Wounded Heroes Fund (WHF) carries out its mission in an office space of 1,400 square feet supporting six employees, seven Veteran Affairs (VA) Work Studies, and one Executive Director. Of our six employees three share a 200 square feet office, two others share the great room. The seven Work Studies share a space of 300 square feet. Sharing close quarters has made it difficult for Program Directors to work simultaneously with disabled Veterans, spouses, and children in need of our services. All in all, as the organization grows so do our programs, clientele, and the need to be more self-reliant to better serve our Veteran population.

The new facility will be a safe haven for all Veterans to come out of isolation, and re-integrate into the community. In the current office, there is no space devoted to children. When parents do bring their kids, they either sit in our reception area, or sit in their parents meeting. In the new facility WHF will have a proper room for children to play, and wait for their parents.

Again, this facility will help give back to Bakersfield’s Veterans, and give the whole community an opportunity to give back to our brave men and women who served this country. In the long run, many Veterans and their families will benefit greatly from the various classes, and programs WHF will be able to offer in the future.
