Our annual Wheelchair Basketball
Tournament raises money for our
Ramping Up Life campaign,
which provides monetary resources for consumers who have no other way to purchase items needed for their home to be accessible. Ultimately, this program helps offset the costs that people with disabilities face in order to live independently in their community.
The tournament is made up of teams from different community businesses and agencies. The idea is that teams are able to “try on” a disability for a period of time. This type of activity simulates the barriers a person that uses a wheelchair faces.
The best part about wheelchair basketball is while organizations are working on team-building skills and learning about disability awareness, we (the audience) get to enjoy an entertaining game of wheelchair collisions, chair flips, and more!
We will also have a Craft & Vendor Fair going on during the tournament. So, in between games, take a stroll around the tables and see what is available from local artisans and independent sales consultants.
