Welcoming Week!

Creating Home Together

After much discussion and deliberation, the Concord Multicultural Festival committee has reached the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Concord Multicultural Festival. The uncertainty of COVID19 presents many challenges that just cannot be addressed effectively due to the nature of this event.

This was not an easy decision for us. Now, more than ever, our community needs connection - the kind of connection that fosters kindness, understanding, and respect. The Concord Multicultural Festival has always been a celebration of all people, honoring our similarities and our differences. We provide the opportunity for people from all walks of life to share their cultures and heritage through food, music, art, and activities.

We can still do that, but we need your help!

We are organizing programs and activities for Welcoming Week: September 12-20.
This year's theme is #CreatingHomeTogether -

Home is not just a house. Home is any place where you feel safe and accepted: in your neighborhood, in your community, at work. Ultimately, Home is where you feel you most belong. In this pandemic, we may be redefining where Home is, what makes us feel at Home, or how to make Home a more inclusive and equal place for all. This Welcoming Week, let’s build Home in new ways through virtual spaces, digital sharing, and being together even when we’re alone. Let’s create Home together so everyone feels they belong, no matter where you are, or where you are from so that each of us has a stake in its future.

Due to all that has happened this year, we don't have the funding that we would typically have. Although the expenses of Welcoming Week will be far less than a typical Festival budget, there will still be costs incurred to execute a successful Welcoming Week.

Please help us to create the Welcoming Week celebration that we all need in 2020.
