Welcome Home is proud to join the 80 other nonprofits participating in #HudsonGives. Established in 2016, Welcome Home Jersey City is an all-volunteer organization devoted to helping newly-arrived refugees and asylees begin their lives in the greater Jersey City area.
By partnering with local government, businesses, and other like-minded, nonprofit organizations, Welcome Home helps refugees and asylees with the support needed for long-term success in this country.
One
enrichment program your donations will directly help support is Jersey
City Fun Club sponsored by Welcome Home. This program takes place three
Thursdays per month and includes:
- Transportation for families to and from our meeting site in Jersey City
- Community dinner, which means a meal is provided for all attendees
- Childcare is offered to remove all the obstacles to participation for volunteers and clients alike
- Individualized homework help for children
- Conversational ESL practice and tutoring for adults
- A different group activity every session for families and volunteers alike to participate in
- Community outings on off weeks when possible, which has included a trip to the circus and to the Turtleback Zoo
Welcome Home also provides ongoing educational, employment and housing support to refugees and asylees families who have been resettled in Hudson County. We have big goals for the future and we hope to continue to work towards them with the help of your donation.
