We're Not Done Yet

The year may be coming to a close, but the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois still has work to do! Help us continue the fight against kidney disease!

A fundraising campaign for National Kidney Foundation of Illinois

In fiscal year 2018 the NKFI...

  • Provided 56 free screenings around the state of Illinois.
  • 3,450 Illinoisans were tested for common risk factors.
  • Of those tested, 70% had at least one abnormal result and 46% were immediately referred to a physician or health center.
  • $120,000 was granted to a promising young investigator, researching gene therapy for congenital abnormalities of the kidney and urinary tract in children.
  • 648 patients and caregivers attended educational seminars to learn how to manage their disease.
  • 4,000 patients, family members and friends came together as a community for a health fair and three-mile walk to show solidarity in the fight against kidney disease.
  • 383 renal professionals participated in debates, networking events, workshops and continuing education strengthening the field of nephrology.

The NKFI has made great strides towards improving the health and well-being of people at risk for or affected by kidney disease. However, there are still...

  • Approximately 900,000 people living in Illinois with Chronic Kidney Disease and most don’t even know it!
  • Approximately 16,000 people in Illinois are currently dialysis.
  • There are still 3,439 people waiting for lifesaving kidney transplant.

There is still a lot of fight left and we are hard at work! We need your help to prevent, educate, and empower those at risk and affected by kidney disease. Donate $25 today and help us provide life saving preventative screening and educational seminars.
