2024 Walk For Canisius

October 25th, 2024

A Walkathon is a very popular fundraiser and is common in Jesuit high schools.  Students raise money for their school by asking family members, family friends, neighbors, and others for donations of any amount.  At the end of the fundraising period, a special day is set aside for students, faculty, and staff to walk throughout the local neighborhood. The Walk is meant as a fun day and symbolize our commitment to our school.

Day Of The Event

The day of the Walk is October 25th. There will be attendance in the morning, but there will be no classes. Instead, we will walk along a designated route that includes parts of Delaware Park, Elmwood Avenue, and surrounding neighborhoods.

Incentives

Individual Incentives:

1. When any student reaches his goal ($90 raised), he will be issued his House Shirt which can be worn for the remainder of the Walkathon Campaign.

2. When any student reaches $30 raised before October 25th, they will be issued a "Walkathon 2024" bracelet.

3. Seniors who raise $90 are entered into a raffle and if their name is pulled, they will get to "pie" Mr. Coppola, Mr. Reiser, and Mr. Hopkins at the Senior vs Teacher basketball game.

4. The Top 3 Junior fundraisers over $500 receive a parking pass!

5. Freshmen and Sophomores who raise $90 will have their names entered into a raffle to "pie" their house prefect!

House Incentives:  

Highest earning House will be allowed to wear their House Shirt in place of a shirt in tie for a week that they choose.

The highest earning house will receive a house lunch.

Stretch Goal:  

If the student body raises $55,000 by Nov. 1st and we have we have 93% attendance on the day of the Walk, there will be a School Holiday on Super Bowl Monday.
