UNLV Honors College

UNLV Honors College is the home of Nevada's most talented young minds.

A fundraising campaign for UNLV

In classrooms, laboratories, performance halls, and playing fields across the UNLV campus, a small group of undergraduate students are reaching beyond the ordinary. They are asking the tough questions, sharpening their intellect, and leading new initiatives. These remarkable young men and women – students in our Honors College – profoundly impact the university and wider community of Southern Nevada.

Honors College at UNLV is a small, selective college that offers an exceptional undergraduate core experience to Nevada’s most talented students. We take the highest-achieving and most well-rounded high school graduates in the region, bring them together into a tight-knit learning community, and devote considerable educational resources to propel them into highly successful and socially conscious professional lives.

High-achieving students have so much to offer our community – infectious energy, inventive ideas, and a fierce passion for social justice.  They are our annual resupply of fresh eyes and open hearts, bringing a special perspective to helping us address the most pressing problems facing our region.

And we need them here . . . In Southern Nevada . . . At UNLV.

But enough from us -- what do our awesome students and alumni have to say about Honors College?

"I could have gone to a private music conservatory like Julliard, but I'm not going to school just to be another technical musician. I want to become an artist - someone who is creatively fueled by deep thinking. At UNLV's Honors College, I'm getting the opportunity to read Brazilian literature, to study philosophy, to hear special lectures on everything from dance to geology. I'm given new cultural perspectives, new ways of thinking, new ideas, new things to say. The kids at all of those New York conservatories aren't getting that."

"Honors College provided me a top quality education with a friendly, community-like feel. The critical thinking skills, robust classroom discussion and public speaking experience I gained as a student have provided me the foundation for lucrative career opportunities I have enjoyed as a result. Even better, being part of the HC was--and still is-- like having a second family!"
