Memories open a door to the past and bring joy to the present. Our memories, when shared with other people, weave a thread of sentiment connecting us in the moment.  In turn, stories flow endlessly from generation to generation and continually bring a sense of delight, amazement, and pleasure in reliving the past. However, for families experiencing dementia, memories stir bittersweet emotions because they are a precious reminder of love and good times before life changed so dramatically. Community Adult Day Center helps families keep memories joyful by providing a warm, welcoming environment for older adults with dementia and other cognitive impairments to socialize and build friendships. With our person-centered approach, we provide recreational, social, intellectual, cognitive, and sensory activities to stir past memories and create some new memories.

Our goal is to MAKE EVERYDAY A GREAT DAY.

We are dedicated to helping families through all stages of dementia and unfortunately as there is no cure, this means the need for low-cost adult day care is ever increasing with younger adults diagnosed with early onset dementia. Financial support is necessary to address this growing need. For this reason, Community Adult Day Center is holding a fundraising event, “Unforgettable Memories”, a community story sharing event on March 27, 2019 at Bobak's Signature Events in Woodridge.

Our goal of raising $25,000 supports:

●an early dementia onset program for recently diagnosed individuals, especially younger individuals 50-65 years who have limited options for support;

●enhancements to our current program offerings for adults with mid to later stage dementia where we focus on mental, physical and intellectual well-being via a person-centered approach to engage our members; and

●providing essential ongoing education, resources, and tools for the caregiver community.

Families in our community need your support because caregiving is a 24/7 job and can be stressful, chaotic, emotionally draining, and has a physical impact on well-being.  Our Center enables caregivers to stay in the workplace, provides free time for personal needs, and lessens the stressors of continuous care.

On Wednesday, March 27th Community Adult Day Center will hold a story sharing fundraising event for community members to share their memories of life.
