A Tribute to Dr. Joseph Bertorelli

A fundraising campaign for Queensborough Community College

Please make a gift to honor Joe’s legacy.

Queensborough Community College mourns the passing of Dr. Joseph Bertorelli, our beloved and distinguished Mathematics and Computer Science Professor, on April 2, 2020, from health complications related to COVID-19.

Dr. Joseph Bertorelli obtained his M.S. and Ph.D. in Mathematics from Purdue University and joined Queensborough’s Mathematics and Computer Science Department in 1976. He spent over four decades at Queensborough, enriching the lives of thousands of students and giving them hope for a brighter future. The former Department Chairperson was a steward of quality mathematics education, a valued collaborator, and a trusted mentor in our community. To so many Queensborough students, Dr. Bertorelli was the ideal math teacher.

To continue his legacy and vision of quality education, funds are being raised to name a classroom at Queensborough Community College in Dr. Joseph Bertorelli's honor.

Please make a gift to honor Joe’s legacy.
                    Dear Joe,
It is too painful to know,
                   We’ve lost our dear Joe
                   From him, we can learn
To be honest, modest, and show true concern
May his family find solace to know,
We too will miss our Dear Joe- Dr. Eugene Harris

                      Reflections from Colleagues and Friends

….He was one of the kindest people I ever met… a born leader with a lot of wisdom to share…an all-round perfect role model for us all. It was a real honor to have known him....he was a kind and valued colleague…. he was honest and thoughtful...a mentor and friend to many. He was a gentleman with a kind and gentle manner…. I will miss him very much.
