A fundraising campaign for Mount Vernon Public Library

Mount Vernon Public Library Bridging the Digital Divide

The Mount Vernon Public Library is restarting our campaign for Mount Vernon Public Library Bridging the Digital Divide.  This is happening on April 25, 2019 as part of the Mount Vernon Public Library Open House starting at 6:00 p.m.

The Mount Vernon Library has been actively involved with the Westchester County Association’s initiative to make gigabit-plus-speed internet connectivity a  new standard across Westchester.  As part of this major effort, the Mount Vernon Library is working to close the digital divide by offering enhanced technology resources in our Library.  Today, on Giving Tuesday, we are taking a further step that focuses on our Mount Vernon community by launching a campaign to raise funds for a teen resource center within the Library.

This space will have study spaces, digital learning spaces, and work spaces.  There will be laptops for checkout to teens which they can take home.  There will be desktops to use in the library.  The space will include digital equipment like digital cameras, digital video, and workstations for animation. This space will help with the digital divide, making teens more computer literate in Mount Vernon, New York.

We need your support and hope that you will make a contribution so that our children will have every tool necessary to learn, be competitive, and get ahead. Donate for our new Teen Computer Lab and Digital Media Center and bring a brighter future to Mount Vernon, New York
