Help More Afghans Reach the U.S.

We need your help! IWR needs funds to pay the filing fees for applications to safely bring additional Afghan families to the U.S.

A fundraising campaign for Global Roots Play School

Our community responded in a big way to Ithaca Welcomes Refugees’ last campaign to raise funds to bring 21 Afghans to safety. Their applications to enter the U.S. have been filed through a collaboration with Cornell Law students and we’re awaiting news of the applications’ outcomes. Thank you again to all who gave so generously!

Cornell Law School has been working with several more Afghans on additional humanitarian parole applications and IWR is asking for your help in raising funds for another crop of filing fees. The applications cost $575 per individual, making our fundraising goal for this campaign $7,000.

The people who would benefit from the success of this fundraiser had deep ties to the American mission in Afghanistan and so are in danger of Taliban reprisals. One man and his son have made it to the U.S. but his wife remains in Kabul. One 80-year-old man spent his life opposing the Taliban first as a minister in the government, then as a teacher. The families we can help through this effort have children as young as two years old.

We appreciate donations of any size. Please also share this campaign with your friends, family, and social networks to make the biggest possible difference. Thank you!

Note: If we are unable to use your donation for this specific purpose, either because we exceed our fundraising goal or for another unforeseen reason, the funds will go towards other Ithaca Welcomes Refugees expenses.
